I Am Not In Competition With Wizkid And Davido – AY.com

AY.com of the “Pass me your love” fame has said that popular Nigerian musicians Wizkid and Davido are no match for him in the music industry.

The singer, who used to be one of the raves in the industry, made this known during a chat with The Punch at the weekend.

Davido, Wizkid Inspire Me – Skales

On how he would handle the competition in the industry, he said:

“I don’t have to try to meet up with Wizkid and Davido. On the other hand, they are the ones that should keep up with me. I don’t do music for competition; it is a form of expression for me. My music is meant to heal and pass positive vibes. Once I’ve been able to do that, I’m not worried about anything else. My people are supposed to learn and gain from my music.”

On what he has been up to recently, AY.com said:

“I have been working and putting things together. I would be launching my band, AY.com and the AJ Band very soon. We’ve actually been working behind the scenes and it’s about me enlarging my coast. I prefer live music because it allows me to express myself more; I don’t want to be restricted to lip-synching on stage.”

Maintaining that he can better his past records, he said, “I wrote Pass Me Your Love and I can still write something better. Tomorrow is supposed to be better than yesterday; I still have a lot of great things for my fans. Just keep your fingers crossed and watch out for the new things I’m bringing to the table.”

The announcement comes barely a few days after Wizkid graced the runway alongside Tinie Tempah and Naomi Campbell at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2019 men’s fashion show in Milan.

Last week, fans were stunned after Wizkid invited Ghana’s Shatta Wale on stage during the former’s performance at this year’s Ghana Meets Naija.

Multi award-winning singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, is at the centre of a hot social media controversy after it was reported that a picture of him on the recently held Dolce and Gabbana runway was being sold online.

Wizkid Walks The Runway Alongside Tinie Tempah And Naomi Campbell At The Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2019 Men’s Fashion Show In Milan

On Saturday, the multi-award winning singer was one of the models to walk the runway at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2019 Men’s Fashion Show, alongside superstar model Naomi Campbell and UK rapper, Tinie Tempah.

But a report emerged that each picture has been put up online for sale by a photo company for  $499 (N179,889).

On Getty Images website, photos of the singer included a long shot, his back view, as well as a close shot. All the pictures were each priced at $499, but there is a tab that can supposedly let the buyer get it for $450 apiece.

While there’s no gainsaying the fact that Wizkid is one of the biggest revelation to have emerged in the modern era of the continent’s music industry, some ardent internet users still wondered why his image should be sold online.

Check on the lyrics below:

(Intro: Skepta)

Greez

True, ay

(Skepta raps on Verse 1)

I’m tryna get paid, take money, cash cheques

You see the set, that’s Lash, that’s Dex

Young C, Young Shorty, Milkavelli

White bricks, True Religion, on the telly, it’s me

Wiz got the house full of freaks

That’s why I haven’t been around for a week

I’m getting pounds in my sleep

I’m at the top of the mountain, it’s peak

Bring it back before the villain

I had a life, real talk, True Religion

It’s in the blood, in the genes, in the stitching

Walked in, no weapon, made a killing

Tongue kissing pretty women

New iPhone ’cause I’m done with all the bitching

Tryna be in my position

Keep my shades on ’cause they tryna see the vision

(Wizkid takes the Chorus)

She tell me, “Badman, see, I need your love, see, I need your love”

Me need you close to me, me, ’til I see me, oh, stay on the road

Bad energy stay far away, make you stay far away

Just give me love for the night, give me love for the night, gyal, waste no time

(Skepta goes hard on Verse 2)

Breakfast in bed on a plane

I could never complain

I was walking with the limp, had the cane

Dex said greatness and nothing was the same

Now we’re set for life

I saw the turn up button and I pressed it twice

You heard I’m in the club, then my best advice

Is put your shoes on and come and get your wife

‘Cause we’ve been having sex just for exercise

Every night, man are doing sexercise

She looks into my eyes, now she’s mesmerised

(Wizkid repeats the Chorus)

She tell me, “Badman, see, I need your love, see, I need your love”

Me need you close to me, me, ’til I see me, oh, stay on the road

Bad energy stay far away, make you stay far away

Just give me love for the night, give me love for the night, gyal, waste no time

(Skepta drops more bars on Verse 3)

Ay, they better get used to the flex

African man, you see the jewels on my neck

Black James Bond, that’s the new silhouette

You see me in the street and I was moving correct

Been running around, tryna do the home run

Left that girl, she was no fun

I tie one, smoke one

Big chief Skeppy and I answer to no one

Counting my blessings, I’m feeling special

Bird’s eye view, SK level

Give them the Shaku when I dance with the devil

Young Fela Kuti, the return of the rebel

I told her I need some space

Real busy body, never stay in one place

And she knows I’ve got more Tricks under my sleeve

That’s why she never wants me to leave

(Wizkid wraps it up)

She tell me, “Badman, see, I need your love, see, I need your love”

Me need you close to me, me, ’til I see me, oh, stay on the road

Bad energy stay far away, make you stay far away

Just give me love for the night, give me love for the night, gyal, waste no time

Disturbing London: Wizkid Raises “Fraud” Alarm On Label Linked To Tinie Tempah

There seems to be a fallout in the partnership between Starboy and Disturbing London Records, as the multi award-winning singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has raised a fraud alarm on the activities of the records group apparently belonging to Tinie Tempah.

Some moments ago, Wizkid took to his verified Twitter account to warn the general public of @DisturbingLDN with a caption that reads:

“Don’t do business with @DisturbingLDN kidsssss… Criminal operation😤

Wizkid Raises Alarm On Disturbing London Linked To Timie TempahThe development comes barely less than a week after the sensational Nigerian artist walked the runway alongside the British rapper and Naomi Campbell at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2019 men’s fashion show in Milan.

Apparently peeved, Wizkid came back online minutes later and wrote “Bad energy stay far away” – a famous line he used in the recently released song where British-Nigerian rapper Skepta featured him.

While it remains unclear why Wizkid issued the cautionary tweet, below is the nexus between Disturbing and Tempah as published by Wikipedia.

“Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu (born 7 November 1988), better known by his stage name Tinie Tempah, is an English rapper, singer and songwriter. He has been signed to Parlophone Records since 2009, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group. He created his own record and fashion label Disturbing London Records in 2007 along with his cousin, Dumi Oburota.”

Music super couple Beyoncé & Jay-Z, alongside Ed Sheeran and Wizkid have been penciled in to perform in Global Citizen Festival‘s Mandela 100 in Johannesburg, South Africa celebrating a hundred years since Nelson Mandela’s birth.

The free concert will hold on December 2nd at Johannesburg’s FNB stadium and Bob Geldof, Naomi Campbell, Gayle King, Tyler Perry, Forest Whitaker and South African TV host Bonang Matheba will serve as hosts. Other artistes lined up include Pharrell Williams, Femi Kuti, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Usher, Cassper Nyovest, Sho Madjozi, D’banj, Eddie Vedder, Tiwa Savage. Oprah Winfrey will also deliver a keynote address on Mandela’s legacy.

“Nelson Mandela did not care much for tributes. Rather, he was concerned with action, results and impactful outcomes to ensure the restoration of the dignity of all the people of South Africa, Africa and the globe,” Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans tells Rolling Stone.

“It is our hope that the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 drives leaders to pursue such action and results in the effort to end extreme poverty,” Evans adds. “If we are able to achieve that, then we might be able to fulfill Mandela’s unfinished work and live up to being that ‘great generation’ he so desired and believed we were capable of being.”

“Nelson Mandela’s life story is a testament to the power of the human spirit and one man’s ability to change the world by standing up for what he believed in,” Oprah Winfrey added. “It is one of the great honors of my life to have spent so much time with him, and I look forward to celebrating his courageous life.”

Mandela 100

To win a ticket, fans would have to go through the Global Citizen site and perform various “actions” such as contacting world leaders and signing petitions. In addition to Mandela 100, the first Global Citizen concert to be held in Africa, the festival will also return to New York’s Central Park on September 29th. The lineup for that fest has not yet been announced.

WATCH: Wizkid, Tiwa Savage Join Neymar, Ronaldinho, Others In Nike’s New Advert

Nike has a long history and special knack for producing some of the most amazing and jaw dropping adverts in all of sport and their latest effort “Awaken the Phantom” is no different.

The 2 minutes and 36 seconds long visually stunning film, which was dropped on Friday, August 10, and includes a star-studded list of names, focuses on a mysterious footballer and urban legend that transforms into several different players.

Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, Kevin De Bruyne, Ronaldinho, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Mal Pugh, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Barcelona’s young prodigy Xavi Simons are the footballing favourites at the forefront of the campaign, while Nigerian artists WizKid, MUT4Y and Tiwa Savage are also featured.

It is understood that the advert was directed by Matthew Vaughn of Kingsman and Kick-Ass fame.

It’s a brilliant watch that will rival some of the very best work Nike have brought to the table in their advertisement – which include the classic Brazilian team commercial in the airport, ‘Good vs Evil’ in the Coliseum, ‘The Mission’ and ‘Winner Stays On’.

And the whole purpose of the Swoosh’s film is to shed light on the new PhantomVSN line of boots, which is replacing the popular Magista series.

Blackface Drags Wizkid And Banky W To Court Over Alleged Copyright Infringement

Veteran Nigerian music artiste, Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, better known by his stage name, Blackface Naija, is dragging popular Nigerian singers, Wizkid and Banky W, to court over what he calls copyright infringement.

The singer, who made the announcement via his Instagram handle, seems to be filing a case of copyright theft against the duo for allegedly stealing his song.

While stating in the suit that Wizkid’s “Slow Whine” off his debut ‘Superstar’ album, which was released on June 2011, is a reproduction of his song “Like the Way,” Blackface is demanding over a N100m in the case.

He also shared a clip of the part of both songs, showing where he’s claiming was copied, and wrote:Blackface Drags Wizkid And Banky W To Court

“I have remained quiet while my name has been dragged in the mud the past few years. Some of Nigeria’s biggest artists have infringed on my copyrights but I always restricted myself to speaking out against this in the media. Maybe because I always felt that music is an art and not really a business where you bring in lawyers and all that. That’s why I couldn’t believe when I was sued for N50m by the same people who stole my intellectual property.”

“I have nothing personal against Wizkid & Banky, in fact I can say I groove to both their music, but the fact is that they stole my song in 2011 and there’s clear evidence to prove it. We’ll allow the Court to decide.”
