Wizkid, Tiwa Savage Team Up With Pharell Williams, David Guetta On First-Ever Global Citizen 4-Track Album
Two Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Tiwa Savage and international stars Pharrell Williams and David Guetta are among the artists contributing new music to Global Citizen EP 1.
The EP is a four-track collection released by the International advocacy organization Global Citizen in partnership with Warner Music Group and Atlantic in the lead-up to the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 that will hold on December 2 in Johannesburg.
The Global Citizen EP 1, available for pre-order on Tuesday and launching on all streaming platforms on Friday, November 30, includes four new tracks featuring Pharrell Williams, Stormzy, Wizkid, and Cassper Nyovest, among many others, and was overseen by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, the curator of Global Citizen’s annual live music festivals.
Throughout the EP, galvanizing messages for change and hope can be heard amid a blend of global sounds. The words of human rights legend Nelson Mandela even appear on the opening track, “Rise UP,” while the music video for “E-Lo” was inspired by the former South African president’s life.
“For hundreds of years, we have witnessed the power of music in bringing people together to drive activism and demand change,” said Hugh Evans, CEO of Global Citizen. “We are thrilled to release Global Citizen EP 1 with new songs from these incredible artists who stand with us in the fight to defeat extreme poverty, and we are extremely grateful to Dave Holmes, Parlophone Records, and Atlantic Records for their dedicated partnership and support as we demand to see an end to extreme poverty by 2030.”
The EP will be released in the US by Atlantic US and globally by Parlophone while proceeds from the project will support Global Citizen’s campaigning around gender equality, education, clean water, and more.

Fans and ID Cabasa himself have applauded the humility of Wizkid when he went over to ID Cabassa’s studio to record his part in their new song, Totori.
36ng reported that Veteran producer, ID Cabasa teamed up with Star Boy’s Wizkid and YBNL’s Olamide to deliver nothing short of greatness on “Totori” and the Nigerian music industry have testified to this.
ID Cabasa who use to be very popular for his production and hit making abilities between 2007 and 2011, stated that he was astonished by Wizkid’s humility.
According to him, he never thought the singer would agree to do the song with him.
“Olamide told Wizkid that bros (Cabasa) has this beat…Wizkid showed loads of love, i was even surprised. You know in Nigeria when you become big, sometimes some things would get into your HQ.
He added that he was more shocked by the way Wizkid greeted him when they both met.
“But I was shocked when he came around, the humility, that down-to-earth kind of attitude, in fact, the way he was hugging I was going to say – bros let me just take pictures, you are the superstar now.”

Last week, Disney announced that Beyoncé has curated and produced an album titled “The Lion King: The Gift” set for release the same date “The Lion King” hits cinemas – July 19th. The LP was said to feature global recording artists and “steeped in the sounds of Africa”.
The tracklist has been released and it has featured a number of Nigerian stars.
Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi, Yemi Alade, Tekno are the Nigerian artists who will be featured on the album. Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale, and South Africa’s Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly are also featured on the album. Blue Ivy, Jay-Z, Pharell, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar are also on the album.
Beyoncé will be voicing Nala, the lion who becomes queen, in the live adaption of the Disney classic which also stars Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, Alfre Woodard and John Oliver.
